Design
Small car.Big ideas.
The doors have no window frames, which Dongfeng says is unique among the cars it benchmarks the Box against. The handles sit flush and present themselves when you unlock. A full width light bar across the nose gives the car a face people remember, and the two tone floating roof gives it a shape. Seventeen inch alloys are standard.

Inside
Quilted, soft,and the wheel on the right.
The dashboard and door trims are soft touch, stitched in a diamond pattern. Thirty two colours of ambient light run through the cabin, the rear view mirror is frameless, and the 12 inch centre screen floats above a console that keeps your phone, your bag and your coffee where you can reach them.

Rest mode
One button, andthe seat lies flat.
The driver's seat adjusts electrically, is heated and ventilated, and remembers your position. Press one button and it reclines fully flat, the windows close and the air conditioning settles, which Dongfeng calls rest mode.
Twenty minutes in a car park at lunchtime, or a quiet hour while the children are at practice. Nobody else in this class offers it, and once you have used it you will not want to go back.

Space
Four metres long.Five seats. No apology.
The Box is 4,020 mm long and 1,810 mm wide, on a 2,663 mm wheelbase, which Dongfeng says is the longest among the cars it benchmarks. Because there is no engine in the way, that wheelbase goes into the cabin, not the bonnet.
Fold the rear seats and the boot grows to 945 litres.

Storage
A drawer, a table, and a place for the bag.
Dongfeng designed the Box around the things people actually carry. A drawer slides out from under the dashboard for the small things, the passenger side has a fold out table, and there is a dedicated space for a handbag between the front seats.
The floating centre armrest hides a deep box, there is a proper cosmetics compartment with a soft light mirror on the driver's side, and wireless phone charging sits where the phone lands anyway.
Charging and range
Charge at home.Forget the petrol station.
Plug in at home on a Type 2 wall box and the 6.6 kW on board charger fills the battery overnight. On a public CCS2 fast charger it takes about 30 minutes to reach 80 percent, roughly the length of a lunch.
The battery also works the other way. Vehicle to load lets you run appliances from the car, at the beach, at a family day, or when the power goes.
The electric drive
Ten parts in one, and the most efficient in its class.
Dongfeng's Mach E electric drive folds the motor, gearbox, inverter and charging electronics into a single unit. It was the first drive assembly certified above 91 percent efficiency by China's automotive research centre, which awarded it an Energy Efficiency Star.

Scheduled servicing for the first three years is included. Our technicians are trained on the high voltage system, and every visit is recorded against your vehicle. Servicing is done at Bert's Service Centre, Camp Road, Kingston.
The cover beyond 5 years or 150,000 km, and the powertrain beyond 8 years or 200,000 km, is Dongfeng’s extended warranty. It is for the first owner, in private use, with every scheduled service done on time at Bert's Service Centre with genuine parts. Wear and tear parts keep their basic terms. Full conditions are in the warranty agreement supplied with the vehicle.
