Design
Starlight,by design.
Dongfeng calls the headlamp the Starlight. The door handles sit flush, come out when you unlock, and retract when you pull away. One unbroken line runs from the lamp to a tail light that spans the full width of the car. Nineteen inch alloys are standard.

Inside
A cabin that takesitself seriously.
Eighty five percent of the surfaces you touch are soft. The 13.2 inch portrait screen carries the map and the media. The 10.25 inch cluster behind the wheel carries the driving. Pure black, throughout.

The seats
Seats you adjust with a switch,not a lever.
The front seats are trimmed in soft PVC. The driver's seat adjusts six ways electrically and the passenger's four ways by hand.
In the back, a centre armrest folds down with two cup holders. The steering wheel is a two spoke design with the controls under your thumbs, and the air vents have a sharp, mechanical look.

Space
Room for the week,not just the weekend.
The wheelbase is 2,775 mm, which is what actually decides rear legroom, on a car 4,650 mm long and 1,905 mm wide. Fold the rear seats, split 60 to 40, for longer loads.
Ground clearance at full load is 197 mm, and unladen the approach and departure angles are 20 and 26 degrees. The fuel tank holds 51 litres, which at 7.2 litres per 100 km is a long way between stops.

A panoramic glass roof runs over both rows of seats, so the cabin is lit from above rather than from the side.

The powertrain
A small engine that does not drive like one.

Mach Power 1.5T.
350 bar direct injection and a BorgWarner electronically controlled turbo. Boost arrives from 800 rpm, and 305 Nm is held all the way from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm.

Seven speed wet dual clutch.
Shifts in 0.2 seconds. At 69 kg it is lighter than most, and at 97 percent efficient against about 85 for a conventional automatic, it saves fuel every mile.

Proven elsewhere.
Dongfeng notes the same gearbox family is fitted to the BMW X1 and the Mercedes A-Class, and that the wet clutch design is on more than 3 million vehicles.

Scheduled servicing for the first three years is included. The work is done by our own technicians, and every repair is recorded against your vehicle. Servicing is done at Bert's Service Centre, Camp Road, Kingston.
The cover beyond 5 years or 150,000 km, and the powertrain beyond 8 years or 200,000 km, is Dongfeng’s extended warranty. It is for the first owner, in private use, with every scheduled service done on time at Bert's Service Centre with genuine parts. Wear and tear parts keep their basic terms. Full conditions are in the warranty agreement supplied with the vehicle.
