Design
Shaped bythe wind tunnel.
At 4,880 mm long and 1,460 mm tall the proportions are those of an executive saloon, and the drag coefficient of 0.209 is the lowest of the cars Dongfeng measures it against. The doors have no window frames, the handles sit flush and present themselves when you approach, and a lattice of LEDs runs the full width of the tail. Nineteen inch alloys are standard.

Our cars come with the white and grey cabin Dongfeng reserves for the all wheel drive model: silicone leather that Dongfeng calls baby grade, wipes clean and does not yellow. A 15.6 inch centre screen on a Qualcomm 8155 chip, an 8.8 inch driver display, and 64 colours of ambient light that can move with the music.

The seats
Heated, cooled,and they remember you.
The front seats are leather, heated and ventilated. The driver's seat adjusts six ways electrically, has memory, and slides back to let you out. The passenger seat adjusts four ways.
The cabin purifies its own air and can sterilise itself with heat while you are away from the car. The glovebox is heated and cooled from the air conditioning, which is either a gimmick or the best place for a chocolate bar in Jamaica, depending on the day.

Space
A saloon that openslike a hatchback.
The whole rear window lifts with the boot lid, electrically, which is rare in this class and makes the difference between a suitcase going in and a suitcase going in the back seat. The opening is over a metre wide.
Inside, a 2,915 mm wheelbase gives the back seat the legroom of a much larger car, and the glass roof runs over both rows. Wireless charging at 50 W keeps the phone full up front.
The platform
Built electricfrom the ground up.
The battery sits flat in the floor, so the centre of gravity is low and the weight is split 50:50 between the axles. The rear suspension is a five link independent design, tuned, Dongfeng says, on ten years of racing.
Two motors drive all four wheels, 400 kW and 640 Nm between them. It holds 0.9 g in a corner and reaches 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and does both without drama.
Charging and range
Half an hourfor 270 km.
The 70.26 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery fast charges from 30 to 80 percent in 26 minutes on a DC charger, and its heat pump thermal management keeps it in its comfortable range whatever the weather is doing outside.
Rated at 14.9 kWh per 100 km, it is frugal for a car this quick. Vehicle to load runs appliances from the battery when you need it to.
Built to last
Five stars, and a battery that outlives the loan.
Dongfeng's battery pack passes a 10 mm nail penetration test, has a frame more than three times stronger than the Chinese standard requires, and monitors itself for thermal runaway full time. The body is 75 percent high strength steel with a 1,500 MPa hot formed door ring around the cabin.

of battery life, 40 percent more than the rival cell Dongfeng tested it against, with constant temperature control.

The cover beyond 5 years or 150,000 km, and the powertrain beyond 8 years or 200,000 km, is Dongfeng’s extended warranty. It is for the first owner, in private use, with every scheduled service done on time at Bert's Service Centre with genuine parts. Wear and tear parts keep their basic terms.
